3. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

Starting from the 2015-2016 Academic Year all international students who have been successfully accepted will receive 50% tuition scholarships from the University Board of Trustees. Full scholarships are also available.

The total number of scholarships available for Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University international students is 20% of the department quotas. The Department of Islamic Sciences and the department of History of Science provide scholarships to 100% of their students.

Students applying for scholarships must add the following documents to their applications.

• A minimum of 2 letters of recommendation.
• Statement of Purpose
• YOS examination results from other universities (if available)
• TÜMER fees are not included in the scholarships.

4. CONDITIONS AND PROCEDURES

The candidates must meet the following conditions in order to be admitted as undergraduate students at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University:

• Must be a foreign national

• Must be a senior student or graduate of a high school

• Must not be a citizen of Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (or have a dual citizenship right of either country or for the ones who had dual citizenship but abolished either one not to have completed all high school education in Turkey or TRNC)

• Must not have been dismissed from a higher education institute in Turkey despite meeting all other above mentioned requirements

The applications of,

• Turkish citizens,

• Citizens of TRNC (except the students who have completed their entire high school in TRNC and have GCE A/L result)

• Students with dual nationality one of which is either Turkish of TRNC (except the students who have completed their entire high school in TRNC and have GCE A/L result)

• Students with dual nationality who abandoned their Turkish or TRNC citizenship (except the students who have completed their entire high school in TRNC and have GCE A/L result) and who complete their entire high school education either in Turkey or TRNC

• Students with dual nationality who abandoned their Turkish or TRNC citizenship and who graduate from the Mission schools in Turkey

• Students expelled from an institutions of higher education in Turkey due to disciplinary action

will not be accepted.

5. LANGUAGE CONDITIONS:

• English: Turkish is the primary language of all the degree programs offered at all the departments at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University except the Faculty of Islamic Sciences. English Preparatory Program is mandatory. Candidates who want to start the program directly must provide proof of English proficiency. Candidates who do not submit any documents showing their level of English proficiency (TOEFL or a similar exam) will be required to take the exam prepared by the Foreign Languages Center. If they fail to get a passing score on this exam they will be required to attend one year of English Preparatory class.

• Arabic: The instruction language of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences is 100% Arabic and thus one year of Arabic preparatory class is mandatory. Before the preparatory class begins the Arabic Preparatory Department will hold an Arabic Proficiency Test, candidates who receive a passing score can start the program directly.

• Turkish: If their first language is not Turkish, candidates must submit TÖMER (Turkish Proficiency Exam) test results with a minimum of B2/C1 score. Candidates who do not submit a TÖMER score will be required to attend FSMTÖMER and receive their B2/C1 certificate within 1 year.

5. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION TO UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

• Photocopy of test results (if available)

• Photocopy of test results received from other Turkish universities (if available)

• High School Diploma Certificate of Equivalence (Can be obtained from the Turkish Ministry of Education or from a Turkish Embassy abroad)

• TÖMER Certificate (B2-C1) (if available)

• Photocopy of Language Proficiency Exam results (if available)

• Two Letters of Recommendation (required for applicants applying for scholarships)

• Statement of Purpose (required for applicants applying for scholarships

• A portfolio/work file prescribed by the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts.

Besides the above exams, a high school diploma grade or a certificate or university entrance exam result may be evaluated if deemed appropriate by Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University.

There is no limitation for the validity period of the Baccalaureate exams such as ABITUR, International Baccalaureate, GCE, Tawjihi which are proposed for the application assessment in admission to the university. However, the results of the university entrance examinations such as YÖS, SAT, TCS, GAOKAO, National University Examination of Kazakhstan etc. will be valid for only two years.
